For one year the partnership agreed to fund a Lead Professional in each school to undertake one discrete piece of work aimed at raising acheivement.  These professionals will meet to share their ideas and progress.

Several of the schools within the partnership have Lead Professionals working on and developing a variety of projects within their schools:-

Caldew School
The Lead Professional is working on raising boys’ achievement in KS3 and GCSE, deploying methods such as consideration of different learning styles;  and discussing strategies with subject team leaders.

James Rennie School
The Lead Professional is operating a reading intervention scheme, working with independent readers to encourage and motivate.

Newman School
The Lead Professional is focussing on SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning), particularly with students in Years 8 & 9 in Citizenship, History and Music.

St Aidans School
The Lead Professional at St. Aidan’s was appointed to work with the Student Voice Lead Co-ordinator on all aspects of Student Voice.

Trinity School
The Lead Professional project here is non-teaching support being given to lower stream students within a new area of the alternative curriculum.

William Howard School
The Lead Professional is working on raising achievement in Modern foreign Languages at ‘A’ level.  Tactics include reviewing sixth-form academic background, analysing different teaching methods, forging links with primary schools and motivating boys.
